The spe-cimen shown inour illustrationtreats a well-known methodof design withvigor andgrace, and inthe blending-of color, whichcannot beshown in anengraving, amost harmoni-ous effect hasbeen obtained. The Cut-Glass Decan-ter, illustratedon page 443, isselected fromthe fine exhibitof glasswaremade by JamesMillar & Co.,of Edinburgh,in the EnglishCourt at theCen ten nial.Scotch glass is artistic skill of famous for its quality, and Scotch crystal glass especially has great clearness andbrilliancy. The engraving with which it is decorated heightens this effect bycontrast with the clear portions of the surface, and the angles produced by INDUSTRIAL ART 447 cutting increase the brilliancy. The form of the Decanter illustrated is particu-larly graceful and well proportioned.
