Title
F9D786, samian ware base, decorated
Description
English: Basal sherd from a samian ware bowl, probably Drag. 37. The mould-cast decorative scheme is zoned being divided into panels by vertical lines of pellets. The motifs used include vine leaves and tendrils together with what appear to be elongated pine cones. The base is of foot-ring type and is now damaged. In the centre of the foot-ring are turning marks and a deep incised line, cut before the slip was applied.
