MARKET QUEEN.-The gardeners' favorite for medium early and midsummer use. This is without exception a most valuable sort for private or market use where a medium early large cabbage is required. It is a carefully se- lected strain which we have improved for a number of years past, and is acknowledged by large gardeners to be one of the most reliable varieties for heading that has ever been intro- duced. It is an early drumhead cabbage, yielding heads of enormous size and of the very best quality. In sweetness, tenderness and richness of flavor it surpasses any other variety we have ever tested, while in keeping qualities it is equaled by very few of the late sorts. We take great pleasure in recommending this variety to our customers who desire a per- fectly reliable cabbage for home use. Pkt. 10c, 3 pkts. 25c, oz. 30c, Vi lb. 85c, lb. $3.00. THE FAMOUS HOLLANDER CABBAGE.—Al- though we have devoted considerable space on our outside cover to this remarkable cabbage, we cannot refrain from giving a few more lines to a sort which within such a short time has proven to be the most valuable late cabbage ever introduced for shippers. Our illustration on the cover gives a good representation of this cabbage, and we take the following re- port from Armacost, Riley & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, which will show conclusively how highly it is esteemed by large commission firms. In their prices quoted this past Oc- tober they quote domestic or common varie- ties of cabbage at $7 and $8 per ton, while the Hollander is quoted from $10 to $11, and in great demand at that price. Experi- ence in our own grounds proves that it is with- out an equal for large cabbage growers, and we have been very particular in saving seed which is certain to produce the very finest results. See price on outside back cover. VANDERGAW.—This cabbage is a splendid midsummer variety. Was introduced by Mr. Vandergaw, a famous Long Island market gar- dener. It is as sure to head as the Succession, and comes in about a week after the Early Sum- mer, making much larger heads than that well- MAY'S market QUBEK. known variety, uniform in size and color, solid, tender, and of the finest quality. It is one of the best varieties we know of for general cultivation. Pkt. 5c, oz. 15c, *4 lb. 40c, lb. $1.50. FOTTLER'S BRUNSWICK.—Large flat heads of excellent quality. Extensively grown for shipping. Fine for second early or general cropj Our strain of this is unsurpassed. Pkt. 5c. oz. lOc, ii lb. 40c, lb. $1.50. DEEPHEAD.—Large heads that are almost round, very solid, and of excellent quality. Hardy, and withstands dry weather better tha: many of the other medium early sorts. Keeps well. Pkt. 5c, bz. 15c, M lb. 50c, lb. $1.50. EXTRA EARLY EXPRESS.—Wonderfully early, coming in ahead of Selected Jersey Wakefield. It is conical-shaped and not quite so large? as Minnesota's Earliest Pkt. 5c, oz. 15c, & lb. 40c, lb. $1.25. STONEMASON DRUMHEAD.—By many gardeners this is considered one of the most reliable varieties for fall and winter use. The plants are medium size with only a very moderate number of leaves. Stem medium length, heads of good size, round and slightly flattened, very solid, crisp, tender, and entirely free from the strong flavor found in many late sorts. It is one of the few cabbages that is certain to please both the amateur and market gardener. We have taken great care in selecting heads for seed, and our stock, we believe, is unequaled by any other firm. In the vicinity of Boston it is grown almost exclusively by market gardeners for winter use. Pkt. 5c, OB. 15c. % lb. 40c, lb. $1.40. EXTRA EARLY ETAMPES.—For extremely early use we heartily recommend this variety, as tests have proven that it can be grown ready for marketing in 75 days from sowing of the seed. The heads are conical in shape, very solid, firm, and it is almost certain to head up, even in the worst seasons. It resembles somewhat the Jersey Wakefield, but with us has not proven to be quite as hardy as that well-known sort. Pkt. 6c, oz. 10c, lb. 40c, lb. $1.60. EARLY DWARF FLAT DUTCH.—A standard sort that seems to increase in popularity each season. The plants are short stemmed and upright with comparatively few and short leaves so that they may be planted very closely together. Heads are of large size, very solid, and with our test are found to mature about the same time as Early Summer, and will stand longer than that variety without bursting. It is a perfectly reliable cabbage, and one that may be depended upon to produce fine round heads even under the most trying conditions of growth. Our seed has been very carefully saved, and we believe it superior to that offered by other houses. Pkt. 5c, OZ. 15c, % lb. 40c, lb. $1.50. EARLY DRUMHEAD.—The plants are compact, with thick, dark green leaves covered with a dense bloom which protects them in a measure from the worms. Heads flat, solid, and of excellent quality. For medium early use, where a good large round solid head cabbage is required, this is very desirable. It usually matures about 10 days later than the Wakefield. Pkt. 5c, OZ. 15c, ^4 lb. 40c, lb. $1.40. LARGE LATE DRUMHEAD.—This is a standard late variety extensively grown through the Middle and Southern states. It makes a large, round, firm head, which seldom bursts or rots, and is consequently very desirable for shippers and market gardeners. Our seed has been carefully saved from the largest, hardiest and most perfect heads, and is certain to give our patrons entire satisfaction. Pkt. 5c, oz. 15c. V4 lb. 50c, lb. $1.75. 0XHEART.—A good medium early variety, with leaves which are wonderfully tender, crisp, and of the best flavor. Pkt. 5c, oz. 15c. % lb. 40c, lb. $150. ' FILDERKRAUT.—This is the favorite German cabbage, and much esteemed for making kraut. The heads are conical-shaped, and resemble somewhat the Winningstadt, but are larger and more pointed. We offer seed of this variety that has been saved from selected cabbages, and are positive there is not a better seed stock obtainable. Pkt. 5c, oz. 15c, % lb. 40c, lb. $1.50. MAMMOTH IMPROVED SAVOY.—This is without any doubt the very best of all the Savoys, either for market or private use, as It is certain to head under almost any conditions. The heads are larger, more solid, and better shaped than any of the other varieties, and the plants are of unusually vigorous, healthy habit. Its handsome globular heads and fine quality have placed it in the front rank of this class of cabbages. Pkt. 5c, oz. 15c, H lb. 40c, lb. $1.40. wm $1.00 For several years past we have had special arrange- ments with the above papers which has enabled us to offer them with a collection of seeds at the regular cost of the papers alone.
