English: Flight Lieutenant J H "Ginger" Lacey of No. 501 Squadron RAF, in the cockpit of his Supermarine Spitfire Mk I at Colerne, Wiltshire, 29 May 1941. Flight-Lieutenant J H "Ginger" Lacey of No. 501 Squadron RAF, in the cockpit of his Supermarine Spitfire Mark I at Colerne, Wiltshire. At this time, Lacey had been credited with 23 victories, gained over France and the United Kingdom between May and October 1940. He became a flight commander shortly after this photograph was taken, and after a period as a test pilot and instructor, was posted to the Far East, where he commanded No. 17 Squadron RAF. His final victory score was 28. |
