Title
flint blade flake
Description
English: A flint blade, struck from a Levallois core. The dorsal face bears the scars of three main previous flakes struck from the core; each of these facets is marked by numerous smaller flake scars, which were probably due to re-dressing the core. The flake is complete, with a striking platform and bulb of percussion at one end and a hinge fracture at the other; this latter may have made the blade unusable, and explains why it has not been further worked. The flint is blotchy grey, and glossy. This artefact dates between the Upper Palaeolithic and the early Bronze Age.
