E, Turner, of Woburn. Wax Bros, in their windows make a specialty of big bunches of pansies and single violets, for which they find a ready sale. They carry a fine line of choice flowers, such as cattleyas, valley, Beauty roses and gardenias, and busi- ness with them is good. Philip L. Carbone, at his up-to-date Boylston street store, always has his window arranged in such a way as to rivet the attention of passers-by. He does not fill his windows with huge vases of cut flowers in a solid bank, as is too often done, but has more artistic ideas. His arrangements are always light and graceful. At present baskets of English ivy, hanging from the upper parts of the windows, are used to good advantage. Some beautifully flowered specimens of Erica melanthera were noted last week. A fine line of hardy evergreens in pots and tubs is carried here also. Anthony Eiley, familiarly known as "Andy" for over thirty years to ex- hibitors at Horticultural hall, died No- vember 11, in his seventy-third year. Interment was from the Ebenezer Bap- tist church and many hundreds at- tended. The deceased was a great favor- ite with the habitues of Horticultural hall and his genial presence will be much missed. On a recent visit to the Arnold Ar- boretum I found the always genial Jackson Dawson busy superintending the packing of 800 varieties of trees and shrubs for Kew Gardens, England. Collections of the new Wilson introduc- tions have been sent to over 100 estates to be tested. Thousands of seedling rhododendrons in pans and flats, all Chinese, were being well ripened up. These should give a wealth of addi- tions to our flora, as many will undoubt- edly stand our eastern winters. Thirty cents on the dollar has been accepted by the creditors of W. E. Doyle in settlement of their claims. Total liabilities approximate $60,000. The stores on Boylston and Beacon streets are being operated as usual. A. G. Hanna, of Holbrook, is one of our best commercial mum growers. No better flowers of Black Hawk, Golden Dome and Dr. Enguehard are seen than
