Fragment of early Romano-British zoomorphic dragonesque brooch.
Description
English: Fragment of copper-alloy dragonesque Romano-British brooch with inlaid red enamel.In native style with Roman influence. Fragment represents the 'body' of the brooch with extended 'neck' and 'tail' both lost. The fragment is decorated with a central circular cell recessed to a depth of approx 3mm and not containing any enamel and two adjacent cells with fragmented remains of red Champleve enameling.
