English: From left, U.S. Navy Lt. Anthony Blaine, Senegalese navy Cmdr. Oumar Wade, U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Tristan Oliveria and Senegalese navy Seaman Mbaye Faye monitor ships’ communications systems in the maritime operations center during Saharan Express 2013 at the Admiral Faye Gassama Naval Base in Dakar, Senegal, March 10, 2013. Saharan Express is a counternarcotics and proliferation exercise that is part of Africa Partnership Station West. APS is an international security cooperation initiative facilitated by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and collaborative activities in order to improve maritime safety and security in Africa.
