SHELTON BAR IRON COMPANYS ETRURIA MILLS, STAFFORDSHIRE. NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE. 117 managing partner with liis Lordsliip, in this extensiveconcern. There are ninety-four piiddhng furnaces, seven mills,and eight blast furnaces, with extensive Iron mines andcollieries. The works were laid down sixteen years since,under the direction of first-class engineers, and erectedwith assiduous care, quite regardless of expense. TheShelton Bar may therefore be truly called a model works.The noble Earl had worked the blast furnaces longbefore the Shelton Bar was established. Most of the pigIron, during this period, had to be sent by rail to SouthStaffordshire, which occasionally turned out a very un-satisfactory market. Mr. Frederick Wragge for a longperiod has acted as liis Lordships sole manager andchief agent in this department.
