Description
English: U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Tristan H. Smith and Italian army Lt. Nadir Rachedi finish side by side followed closely by a stray dog. They clocked in at 21:15 for a 3-mile race held in Farah, Afghanistan, Sept. 28, to mark the deployment half-way mark for the main party of the coalition Provincial Reconstruction Team in Farah. Smith, from the Bronx, N.Y., is deployed as a medic to the trauma center at Forward Operating Base Farah. He is deployed from the Navy Medical Manpower Personnel Training and Education Command in Bethesda, Md. Rachedi is from Livorno, Tuscany, Italy, and is assigned to Task Force 45.
