Title
Half of a double loop buckle with a trapezoidal shaped frame
Description
English: Half of a copper alloy double loop buckle frame with the pin and bar intact. Possible seventeenth century date. Length 18mm, width 24mm and 2.5mm thick. Weight 2.81g.

The surviving loop is trapezoidal in shape and the central part of the outer edge is pointed with an engraved pin notch and a transverse engraved line extending the full width of the frame. Each corner of the outside edge is in the form of half-round protrusion which is the same thickness as the rest of the frame. There is a small protrusion at each end of the bar. The elements of the frame, including the bar are sub-rectangular in cross-section and the pin is a shallow D-shape in cross-section. The front of the frame has an even dark green patina, whereas the rear side and the pin are slightly corroded. The two breaks where the other half of the frame joined are old.
