English: Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel inducts Medal of Honor recipients Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie G. Adkins and Spc. 4 Donald P. Sloat into the Hall of Heroes during a ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., Sept. 16, 2014. Adkins was awarded the Medal of Honor Sept. 15, 2014, for actions during a battle at Camp A Shau, South Vietnam, March 9-12, 1966. Then-Sergeant 1st Class Adkins was assigned to Detachment A-102, 5th Special Forces Group at the time of the action. Sloat was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor Sept. 15, 2014, for actions during a combat patrol near Hawk Hill Fire Base, South Vietnam, Jan. 17, 1970. Sloat was assigned to Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 196th Light Infantry Brigade, 23rd Infantry (Americal) Division.
