Althoagh the Vine does not occui frequently, it is not an un-popular element of artistic decoration. The Antique and Medievalstyles, in particular, show a certain preference for the vine. In Antiquity the Vine (Vitis vinifera) is the attribute of Bac-chus. Vine leaves and Ivy, sometimes in connection with Lsurel,encircle the brows of Bacchantes, and adorn their drinking-vesselsand uteijsils, tli* thyrsus, kantharos, &c. NATUEAL FORMS.
