The corundum found in theTurkish emery stone varies from 40 to 57per cent., with the exception of Kulukstone, which is said to contain about 37per cent. Corundum in the Naxos stone isreputed to run as high as 60 per cent. Theprices of Smyrna stone vary with the qual-ity from $14 to $20 per ton f. o. b. SmyrnaI am creditably informed that no emery canbe produced f. o. b. Stroma for less than$12.50. The Kuluk stone is shipped fromthe port of Kuluk, and is brought downfrom the neighboring moun-tains by camels. This stone isquoted f. o. b. Kuluk at $10 to$12 per ton.
