Perhapsan even greater benefit is one which ishard to measure or even estimate. It isan indirect benefit—simply the benefitwhich comes from an improvement inthe appearance of the store. People liketo go to a bright and attractive placeto do their business. There are a fewMrs. Gummidges, who seem to enjoy be-ing sad, but the great majority of peopleare desirous of being happy. They likebrightness and beauty. They like vari-ety. In short they will like a storewhich is not only clean, but where arti-cles carried are attractively shown.They may have little interest in the ar-ticles—but they enjoy seeing them allthe same.
