Movement — Bend the l^nees and jump to the strideposition with the feet about twenty-four inchesapart, at the same time swing the arms outwardand upward until the backs of the bauds touch overthe head, as shown in Fig. 72. Now jump from thestride position to the first position, and at the sametime bring the palms of the hands together behindthe back. Repeat, first striking the hands behind theback, then in front of the body. Times — 10 — 20 — 40. Rate per minute, 16 — 32 —48. Caution — In this exercise be sure and move the armsand legs together, and jump out and in to bothpositions. Movement — Swing the arms forward and downwardwith force and vigour until the clenched hands arebrought to a sudden stop about six inches from theleft knee, with the body inclined forward and theweight thrown on t(j the left leg, as shown in Fig. 74.While still holding the lists together, swing theextended arms in front of the thighs up into thefirst position over the left shoulder. Repeat. Re-verse the movement by swinging the arms over theleft shoulder. Times — 10 — 25 — 50. Rate per minute, 10 — 20 —30. Caution — Throw the weight forward on to the advancedleg with every downward blow, and backward on tothe rear leg every time the arms swing over theshoulder. Make a circular movement
