Sir John Franklin was twice married. His second wife, Lady JaneFranklin, was born about 1805. She came into prominence from herpersevering efforts to discover the fate of her husband and theexpedition that accompanied him. Among her last works was thepurchase of Franklins house, in Lincolnshire, where many relicsare collected of Sir Johns expeditions.
