ailroad changed all this, and Mr. Carr returned to Chicago and took aposition in Martin OBriens Art Emporium. In 1867 he moved to Ouincy.HI., where he remained three years with the wholesale and retail house of W. IT.Johnson & Co. In 1869 he returned to Chicago and engaged with Field, Leiter*& Co. There he remained but a short time. An opening occurred in the Boardof Trade firm of E. F. Pulsifer & Co., and he secured an interest therein, andwas connected with that commission house for six years. In the spring of 1877his health became impaired, and he was obliged to seek a respite from businesscares. Mr. Carr then made several trips to the Black Hills, combining businesswith pleasure. In the fall of 1878 he engaged in sheep raising in Texas, but inthe following spring returned to Chicago. Xow perfectly restored in health,he sought a new connection in the grain trade, and as a result was soon asso-ciated with Xorman B. Ream. In 1884 Mr. Ream withdrew from active interest 380
