and in August of the latter year Sisters of theHoly Family of Nazareth took charge. Father Jaworskidied at the Seminary of the Holy Ghost Fathers inDarien, Conn., in 1911. Father Tomaszewski became pastor of the congrega-tion in 1898 and the following were the outstandingphysical features of his term of leadership: Knights ofSt. Anthony organized in 1898; the interior of_ thechurch beautifully frescoed in 1899; a new rectory biiilt in1900; a weekly newspaper under the name of Wielko-polanin established in 1899; and an orphan asylumfounded in Emsworth, Pa., in 1900. Since succeeding Father Tomaszewski in 1907 FatherKwapulinski has been able to perform a work of greatproportions, spiritually and materially, and has won asecure place in the hearts of his people. The churchhas been almost completely renovated, new concretefoundations have been laid, the interior frescoed, a neworgan installed, the school hall and convent repaired andpainted, eleven acres of additional ground for the ceme-

Father Kwapulinski has lived close tohis people, has brought the church into intimate touchwith their daily lives, and has been their loyal, helpfulfriend at every turn of fortune. His assistants duringhis ministry have been: Rev. A. Rachwalski (1907-1914) ; Rev. Michael S. Retka (1907-1908) ; Rev. Fran-cis A. Retka (1908-1915) ; Rev. John J. Dekowski (1914-1917) ; Rev. Peter A. Lipinski (1917-1918) ; Rev. PeterI. Maciejewski (1918-1920) ; and Rev. Michael J. Sonne-feld (from 1915 to the present, 1921). The first ofthese assistants, Rev. A. Rachwalski, died in Pittsburgh,Oct. 28, 1920. Rev. Michael S. Retka is a professor inDuquesne University, and his brother. Rev. Francis A.Retka, is chaplain of the Polish Orphan Asylum at Ems-worth, Pa. Rev. John J. Dekowski is pastor of twoPolish congregations in Toronto, Canada; Rev. Peter A.Lipinski is stationed at Mt.
