Transcript InfoField | A Race on Skates. Dutchwomen were noted for skating long ago. Mr. F. S. Bird, for instance, described in the eighties how the Dutch countrywomen skated with their egg and butter basket for miles along the frozen ditches and watercourses with ease and regularity of speed. In this country scene the sleigh figures as an ideal bathchair; doubtless the downward slope suggested the race. |
