Claimed to have been taken in Florida, where it is probably accidental.It is not uncommon in the Bahama Islands, where it breeds. 2o6 KEY TO THE WATER BIRDS OF FLORIDA. SULA PISCATOR (Z///;/.).Red=footed Booby. Adult: General color white, showing a buff tinge on the head and neck. Shafts of the tailfeathers pale yellow : remiges and most of the wing coverts slate-gray, showing an ash tinge ;feet reddish. Iiiiinatui-e: (General plumage grayish brown above; dull gray beneath, some-times whitish ; plumage very variable. Length, 27 ; Wing, 14.50; Tail, 8; Tarsus, 2.10; Bill, 3.30. Range: Coast and islands of tropical and sub-tropical seas north toWestern Mexico and Florida. (a.o.u.) This species has very little claim to be included in our fauna. It mayoccasionallv occur on the Florida coast in summer. Subgenus DYSPORUS Illkier. SULA BAS5ANA (Z/;///.).Qannet.

Adult: \ery large : head and neck white tinged with yellowish buff; general color white ;primaries dark brown: l)are space about the eyes, bluish black. Immature: General plumage KKY TO THE WATER BIRDS OF FLORIDA. 207 mottled, grayisli brown and white, showing wedge-shape white marks near tlie ends of tlie featliers.Length, 36; Wing. 19.25 : Tail, 9.50: Tarsus, 2.20; Bill, 4. The Gannet occasionally occurs in Florida in winter. It breeds fromNova Scotia northward, usually on rocky cliffs. The female lays onechalk3-white egg. I found it breeding in great numbers on Bird Rock,Magdalene Islands in 1877. Family ANIIINGID.F:. Darters.Genus ANHINGA Brisson.
