Description
English: An incomplete Early-Medieval (possibly Frankish) single looped buckle (c. 450-c. 600 AD).

The pin is missing.

This oval frame is convex at the front and bevelled at the rear. On the upper surface, the sides and outside edge are decorated with transverse grooves. In plan, the centre of the outside edge is slightly indented. It has a narrowed bar, oval in cross-section. At the centre of the bar there is an area of wear that was created by the pin loop.

This buckle has a patchy dark green and mid-brown patina with areas of active corrosion.
