Title
IOW-D9FAF7 Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) Buckle. Treasure case no. 2010 T286
Description
English: Finds from a ploughed Anglo-Saxon cemetery site, including a fragment of a silver-gilt small square-headed brooch. Treasure case no. 2010 T286. Addenda to Treasure cases: 2004 T187, 2006 T62, 2007 T203, 2008 T321 and 2009 T177.

The find consists of (1) a fragment from an early Anglo-Saxon brooch and (2) part of a buckle-loop of the same period. The brooch fragment is silver-gilt and elongated triangular in shape, with the remains of ridged and moulded decoration on top and the hinge-lug for a pin on the back; length, 11 mm. It appears to be from the centre of the head-plate of a brooch of square-headed type (series II), like the pair from Bifrons, Kent, grave 64.

The copper-alloy fragment is from one side of a buckle-loop with oblique sides; length, 26 mm.
