Abstract: Italian political cartoon shows two scenes in the aftermath of the Congress of Berlin, on the left, an allegorical female figure wearing a crown labeled "Europa", seated on a throne among ruins, admonishing child-like figures labeled "Greco" holding a paper labeled "Unita ed Indipendens", "Rumeno" holding a paper labeled "Bessarabia", "Austria" holding a paper labeled "Bosnia ed Erzegovina", "Turco" holding a paper labeled "Integrita", "Inglese" holding a paper labeled "Inte Ressi", "Russo" holding a paper labeled "Dominio nes Balkani ein Armenia", and a child on the right representing Italy holding a paper labeled "Trentino e Trieste". Near the left margin is a man wearing a spiked helmet, walking away from the clamoring children, may represent Prussia. In the upper left is a hideous creature labeled "Guerra"; in the upper right corner is a figure standing on top of a domed building labeled "Pace". The scene on the right shows two congress delegates in a drawing room, standing on the left is a man labeled "Inglese" holding a jack-in-the-box labeled "Greco", which he is showing to a man (Aleksandr Gorchakov) seated in a chair labeled "Russo".
