Notes Red leather ID tag belonging to 471 Pte Norman Edward Robertson, an Aucklander and brother of Nurse Nancy M Robertson who served with the QAIMNSR during WW1 The tag is marked- ROBERTSON N E - 5A MGC - PRES 471 Norman Edward Robertson, enlisted with the 14th Machine Gun Coy, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion circa May 1916 (service number 471). He embarked on the Ulysses in October 1916 and served on the Western Front. During 1918 he was reported as "Wounded - Gassed". In August that year Norman married Lily Louise Davis of London. He then remained in the UK until January 1920 when he embarked for Australia on the Friedrichstruh. He received his discharge in May of that year.
