NICOLAVS • CAMILLVS FT • lOSEPH • FRATRESDEBALIOTIS ■ .EDIFITIVM CVRARVNT•SVO•ET AMICORVM • COMODO ANNO • SALVTIS MDCLXXX La lapide fu murata a sinistra della porta dingressoverso strada, al di sopra di (juella che rammenta labdica-zione di Carlo Alberto. — La Banca fece murare, simme-tricamente a questa, unaltra lapide che rammenta il ristaurodel Palazzo e la costruzione della sua nuova sede ; volleanche con cortese pensiero fosse in essa ricordato lautoredei lavori. La iscrizione latina, opera del Prof. Stampinipiù sopra ricordato, è la seguente: HASCE • yEDES AD • CIVITATIS • COMMODA AD • DECVS • ORNAMENTVMQVE • VRBIS ARGENTARIA • POPVLARIS • NOVARIENSIS RESTITVIT • AN • MDCCCCVI CVM • ESSET • OPERIS • REDEMPTOR AL • BROGGI ■ ARCHITECTVS ■ MEDIOLANENSIS I lavori di ristauro e di costruzione cominciarono nel1904. La nuova sede fu aperta al pubblico il 28 Otto-bre 1907.

Lentrata alla Banca (Restauro dellantico Palazzo). — 14 — Credo doveroso, chiudendo queste brevi notizie, ad-ditare al pubblico encomio la Presidenza e la Direzionedella Banca Popolare di Novara, le quali, in tutto quantoebbe rapporto principalmente col ristauro dellantico e sto-rico Palazzo, portarono una non comune nobiltà di con-cetti e larghezza di criterii, concedendo tutti i mezzi chelurono richiesti perchè la risurrezione artistica, a cui simirava, riescisse la pii^i perfetta possibile.
