ed. Let us add that we have grown thousands of plants of it, that they begin to bloom when only very small and not only during summer and autumn, but during the whole winter, and will make an excellent pot plant for Easter decorations. Price, $3.50 per 12; 35c each. Extra strong plant 60c each. The Tomato Tree. (Solanum Betaceum.) A fine ornamental tub or pot shrub from South America, where it attains a height of twelve or fourteen feet. It grows in a fine tree-like form, the branches spreading and clothed with large handsome tropical-looking leaves, making it a showy plant for the house in winter or lawn in summer. But it is most valued for its delicious fruit, which hangs pendent in clusters below the foli- age; is the size of a large egg, and of a beautiful or- ange-salmon color when ripe. It has a delightful sub- acid taste, slightly resembling the tomato and is delicious cious raw, served with sugar and cream, or cooked as sauce, and for jelly or jam it is very fine. It will keep for weeks, as it does not bruise on account of its very tough skin and the solid nature of the fruit covering the seeds. In Southern California it is highly valued for its fruit, and in Ceylon and India it is extensively grown, and is known as the "Poor Man's Fruit." It is as yet a rare plant in this country, being almost unknown outside of Southern California. Nice seedling plants, 15c each. Oxalis. SHAMROCK PEA. BLUE OXALIS. A* Charming.Rock Plant. None Better for Hanging Baskets. This is just an elegant little beauty! Leaves like an oxalis, dark emerald green, frequently marked with a "peacock eye," as shown, and, trailing gracefully upon them, flowers of most beautiful cobalt blue, set off with a pink center. Not another flower like it. A little jewel. As a pot plant it has few equals, and it is also most de- sirable for the rock garden and for choice positions in a light, warm soil; also for pot and basket. Price, 35c each; $3.00 per dozen. SENILIS LENIOSTARHYS. SENILIS LENIOSTARHYS. A pure white foliage plant which, no doubt, has come to stay, the leaves are finely cut and growth and foliage very graceful; it will prove especially valuable for ribbon beds, on account of its clear white color and on account of its readiness to sub- mit to any amount of trimming to keep at any desired height or shape. Price, 20c each; $1.00 for 6. _ SPIRAEA GRIMSOJL ANTHONY WATEREE. "The Ideal Florist Plant." Mr. Goldring, of Kew, speaks of it in The Garden as fol- lows: It is one of those exceptional novelties that oc- cur only at rare Intervals, adding to the rich and varied flora of our gardens. It outshines all spireas in brilliancy of color—a bright crimson. It is also much dwarfer and denser growth, and more persistent bloorner, and is not out of bloom during summer and autumn. Is the ideal of a pot plant for the florist. •As an instance of its continuous and abundant flowering character, I add, that on the last day of September I saw a large number in full bloom, and some were more than fifteen inches high, had twenty flower clusters open at one time, and had been producing bloom in like man- ner since June." It has been awarded first class certifi- cate by the Horticultural Society and wherever exhibit- iSpirea Andrew Waterer.
