This picture is marked by a fine sobriety in its colorscheme of blues, grays and greens and agreeable accents are givenby the flower blossoms. Canvas: Height, 29 inches; width, 231/2 inches. Signed at the lower left, C. Pissarro, and dated 77.

A young girlwith luxuriant blond hair, which falls to her waist, is depicted seated,P - in life-size, three-quarter length. She is engaged in crocheting a bit 1 of filmy, white drapery. The white bodice which droops from her ^ right shoulder, the blue skirt, the blond tints of her golden hair, and the blue wall in the background, with a fine accent of black givenby the chinmeypiece, combine in producing, with the delightful fleshtones of the shoulder, chest, arm and the hands, a rare harmony ofrestrained but resonant and ample color. In the face, showing alovely type of French girlhood, are the same beauty of color andthe same fine qualities of envelope and surfaces. Canvas: Height, 29 inches; width, 23^2 inches.
