In exploring the compaiatively new fieldopened up by Piofessor Crookes, NikolaTesia has stimulated research into the mys-teries of high tension and frequency cur-lents and thei*^ effects. In the majoiity ofhis experiments Tesla uses alternating cui-rents generated by machinery of his owndesign, but in a large number of cases hiseffects can be duplicated with an inductioncoil suitably energized. In the latter casethe apparatus consists of a battery, aRuhmkorff coil, two condensers, and asecond specially constructed induction ordisruptive coil, with some few subsidiaryimplements.
