Iron Age Birdlip Brooch
Description
English: An incomplete, cast, copper-alloy brooch of the "Birdlip" type dating to the late Iron Age/early Roman period. The backward-curving, solid head is slightly trumpet-shaped with a moulded medial ridge and a further moulded ridge to either side. The base of the head has a transverse disc and, below it, the hooked 'beak' typical of the type. There is a short section of the bow remaining below the beak. The bow is + -shaped in section.
