Title
Iron Age bucket mount
Description
English: An almost complete, copper-alloy swing handle bucket fitting/escutcheon in the shape of a bull's head, dating to the 1st or 2nd centuries AD.

The object comprises a stylised bovine head with forward projecting horns, moulded rounded eyes and small sideways-protruding ears. Projecting from the neck is a broadly triangular-sectioned shank which expands into a suspension loop for the handle of the bucket. A smaller (now broken) loop is situated below the muzzle. The reverse of the fitting is hollow and appears to retain traces of a possible lead-based material.

Categorised by Ellis as Bovine Group 10, category 3: two rivet type of forehead and 'tongue piercing'. This is the sixth known of this type.
