Iron Age cosmetic pestle: Cosmetic grinder
Description
English: A fragment of a cast copper-alloy Late Iron Age to early Roman cosmetic mortar, belonging to a two-piece cosmetic grinder set (c. 300 BC - AD 200). This fragment consists of the end-loop and part of the pestle which has a wide V-shaped groove in its upper surface. In cross section the grinder is also broadly V-shaped. The grinder is suffering from corrosion (bronze disease).
