English: Fitzpatrick, Jim, 1916-

"U429/99. John H. Lowin (51), who delivers Drouin's mail, has a letter for Mrs. Leslie Allison from her Air Force husband. The postman is World War I veteran, has a son prisoner of war in Malaya. He walks 40 miles a week for one delivery daily six days a week. 250 of the letters he takes round each week are from the war fronts. It's a war time job for him --normally he is the shire ranger; rounds up stray dogs, cattle, horses." --Printed on label.; Title devised by cataloguer from caption on label.; Condition: Good.; Inscriptions: "Photo by Fitzpatrick ; U429/99 " --In ink and pencil on reverse.
