English: A fragment of an early medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver coin of Aethelwulf of Wessex (AD 839-58); first portrait phase, c. 844-9 (North 613; Naismith C111.3); mint: Canterbury; moneyer: Herebeald.

Paul Withers notes that the retrograde reverse inscription ( )REBE( ) is very unusual. It is not listed in Naismith (2011), The Coinage of Southern England, 796-865, BNS Special Publication 8.
