“まだ霧ふかき 朝まだき城のこなたの松原にて 源之丞が二人りの倅 かんなん辛苦も時を得て 恨ミかさなる水右衛門を首尾よく討取 本地に返り 名を萬代に残しける めでたしめでたし“
“石井が隠妻(ことつま)お松といへるハ 明石の里に侘住ひ 二人り子供を養育し 賎(しづ)が手業に世を送る まづしき中に操を立 夫の身の上物案じ しばしまどろむ夕暮に 門辺にたゝずむ源之丞 昔にかハらぬ立派の出立 お松ハ嬉しく出迎ひ 御堅固なりしか我夫 といハんとすれバ こつぜんとねふりハさめて逆夢(さかゆめ)なる 返り討ときくよりもひたんに袖をしぼりしが 思ひ定めて幼子を舅の源蔵に預け置(おき) みどりの黒髪をおし切て 菩提の道に入にける“
亀山の仇討ち』を題材とした錦絵。夫の仇討ちを夢で見る妻おまつの情景を描くが、実際にはそれは逆夢で夫は返り討ちに遭っていた。後に彼女の幼子がその仇を討つ。
