Macgillicuddy's Reeks - a group of mountains in S. Kerry, 7 miles from Killarney - the highest point being Carntual (3414 feet) On this mountain near the summit is a wild ravine called the Hag's Glen and two small lakes, Loughs Callie and Gouragh. These mountains were once the fastness of the powerful Macgillicuddy family, to the protection of which they retired in times of danger.
