Title
Late Medieval seal ring
Description
English: Cast copper alloy seal finger ring with incised design of a squirrel on the bezel. The ring has a oval cross section with a slight cariation on the inner side. The flat oval bezel is slightly off centre with slight shoulders joining the bezel to the ring. The ring type is simple but the design of a squirrel may suggests a later Medieval or Post medieval date. Squirrels were very popular on seals in the 14th century. The bezel is 9.8mm by 10.2mm and 2.3mm thick. The ring is 18.7mm in external diameter, 14.2mm internally and 2.9mm wide. It weighs 3.64 grams.
