Title |
Late Palaeolithic Naturally Backed Knife |
||
Description |
English: Probably a Late Palaeolithic naturally backed knife. The flint blade is completely covered with creamy opaque white patina with patches of dark grey. The dorsal face has three arises and the upper part of the left edge has oblique truncation produced by abrupt retouch. The proximal end of the dorsal face has an off centred tang created with short abrupt retouch and the tip of the distal end is missing. The ventral face has slight ripples marks and a small bulb of percussion. The length is 53.1mm, the width is 23.2mm, the thickness is 5.7mm and the weight is 5.98g.
The knife is likely to have been hafted and may have had a right hand use. |
