Description |
English: Late Saxon copper alloy buckle frame with integral plate, D-shaped, oval with flat angled section, outer edge with three knops flanked by foliate decoration and two decorative holes. Circular perforation for missing pin on strap bar. Trapezoidal plate recessed from perforation for pin to attachment edge, where there are two further attachment perforations. 38.5x 29mm, 11th century. See similar buckle found in Tacolneston (HER 35667), which does not have integral plate. |
