Late Saxon finger ring/ear ring
Description
English: Late Anglo-Saxon finger-ring or earring, once with overlapping ends, now distorted and partly opened out. Hoop of circular cross-section towards the widest, central part and more angular towards the ends. Near one end are the very faint indications of two or three ring-and-dot motifs. Metal has dull purplish surface. Length of hoop c.63mm. Compare Margeson 1993 (Norwich Households) no. 1. 11th century.
