Title
Late Upper Paeleolithic flake
Description
English: Later Upper Palaeolithic secondary flake (15,000-8,300 BC). The flake surface shows evidence cortex reforming giving an indication of the age of the flake, it is also patinated from light grey to white reflecting the deposition chalk downland.

60% of the dorsal surface (upper face) is covered in original cortex with evidence for two previous flake removals. There are signs of platform preparation at the proximal end and a hinge fracture at the distal end. On the ventral surface (lower face) the bulb of percussion and bulb scars can be seen. There is a small area of possible retouch on the right edge of the ventral face near the distal end. Weight: 30.64g, Length: 51.60mm, Width: 40.56mm, Thickness: 15.28mm.

These flints form part of a large collection of lithic implements and associated waste flakes from several concentrations on the Seven Sisters; see SUSS-80DBC3.
