Title
Late Upper Paeleolithic flake
Description
English: Later Upper Palaeolithic tertiary flake (15,000-8,300 BC). The flake surface shows evidence cortex reforming giving an indication of the age of the flake, it is also patinated from light grey to white reflecting the deposition chalk downland.

The striking platform has been removed at the proximal end due to old damage, this has also removed the bulb of percussion although percussion waves are still clear on the ventral face. There is a hinge fracture at the distal end. On the dorsal surface (upper face) there are arrises from previous flake removals. There is a small area of starch fracture towards the proximal end of the right edge on the dorsal face. There is retouch at the distal end of the right edge on the ventral face and extensive use wear on both edges. Weight: 5.96g, Length: 50.18mm, Width: 23.24mm, Thickness: 7.34mm.

These flints form part of a large collection of lithic implements and associated waste flakes from several concentrations on the Seven Sisters; see SUSS-80DBC3.
