Cétait en 1892. Jusquà cette date, Monseigneur El-phège Gravel, premier évêque de Nicolet, avait entretenu,à bon droit, de vives inquiétudes sur le sort de cette nouvellefondation, mais alors il fut rassuré. Il crut à sa viabilitéet le prit sous sa haute protection. La divine Providence et le bon Saint Joseph, protecteuret gardien de cette maison, suscitèrent dans les âmes de lapopulation environnante un grand esprit de charité. Lesecond Evêque de Nicolet, Monseigneur Joseph-Simon-Hermann Brunault fut pour THôtel-Dieu dArthabaska,non seulement un véritable Père, un protecteur insigne, maisil sut encore lui créer de vives sympathies parmi son clergéet lui aider de toutes manières dans sa marche en avant versle bien et le progrès que nous constatons de nos jours.
