Lensemble de cettefigure est remarquable par la finesse, la perfectionde sa facture, lampleur et le modelé des détails;cest dun art tout à fait dégagé des hésitations,des naïvetés des premiers âges, quoique dun stylenettement archaïque. En dépit de la dureté de la matière, lartisteest parvenu à donner aux moindres détails du corpset du visage la souplesse, laisance, en un mot tousles caractères de la vie, du naturel et de la vérité.Les yeux sont droits, largement ouverts, le nez pur»le menton ferme et saillant. Sous une coiffure étrange, qui tient à la fois duturban et de la calotte,une sorte de bonnetrond, garni dun bordépais et relevé, la têteapparaît carrée et le nez,un peu fort, est gros aubout. Cette carrure dela face correspond àlensemble du corps vi-goureux et trapu ; maisce serait une erreur deconsidérer cette struc-ture comme le modèletype dune race. Celatient plutôt à un genre àpeu prèsuniformeadop-té générale
