Mais cest faire remonter les deux statuesà une époque beaucoup trop ancienne. Lexécution plus nerveuseet plus sèche (notamment dans les draperies) atteste lart gréco-romain. Dans tous les cas, il est permis de dire que sur ces figures defemmes, le génie de Praxitèle a laissé son empreinte. Il nest pasarbitraire de les rattacher à son art. Mille charmantes images dela femme, jusque sous lEmpire, naissent dans les ateliers desculpteurs et peuplent le monde antique. Pour supporter la vasque dune fontaine, les Trois Grâcessassocient: on les retrouve sur un bas-relief de composition etde sentiment analogues.
