hat Lincoln gave little attention to politics dur-ing his partnership with Logan, though he didnot altogether withdraw from public life. Themention of his name for the governorship in1841 had been serious enough to call for a semi-official declination; but there was no organizedeffort made to induce him to accept the nomina-tion, and the subject was dropped.
