English: An ovate flint handaxe of Lower Palaeolithic date. The implement is bi-facially worked and roughly symmetrical both in plan and profile. The flake removals cover the whole of both surfaces, and colour varies from a dark orange-brown to pale grey and buff, the majority being of a yellow shade. There is a small shallow hole on the ventral face, at the proximal end which looks deliberate due to its regular shape. In addition to this, also on the ventral face, there are two incised lines which are deeper than the knapped surface.
