Description
English: M class steam locomotive, M 4, 2-4-4T type, with two men. The man in the centre of the image is identified as G Lee in the caption at Pa1-q-101 (Godber Album vol 108, p 30). Dated from the same image reproduced in "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd (p 41), which has the caption: "At Palmerston North about the turn of the century after rebuilding to give a lighter axle loading". Photograph taken by A P Godber.
