Text Appearing Before Image:
.He was an ardent patriot, a most intense American. The wrongs of others excited his profoundest sympathy, his own he uncomplainingly bore. He had a noble inde-pendence, and he scorned mean things. He sought andwalked untrodden wavs, but thev were such onlv as hisconscience commanded. His form was manly, his counte-nance benignant and his voice as musical as Apollos lute. Gentle, kindly, charitable, friendly and just, his memoryis a precious heritage to be cherished by this Society, byhis contemporaries and by succeeding generations. The Society of .Montana Pioneers by its Executive Com-mittee adopts this memorial of its late President, and directs 45S HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF MONTANA. that it be entered at large on its minutes and Lliat a copy bepresented to Mrs. Annie Caplice Rockwood, a daughter ofthe deceased.(Signed) MARTIN MAGINNIS,WILBUR F.
