Calve, Dalmores and Renaud in the leading roles.Mr. Hammersteins production of this work during arecent season at the Manhattan Opera is well remem-bered by opera goers as a most brilliant one. The opera contains much of the best musicMassenet has written; and the plot, while based onthe well-known Scriptural story, does not follow theBible or tradition very closely, differing quite largelyfrom Salome.
